A Look Back at American Craft Beer Week

One week is honestly not enough... We think every week should be dedicated to Craft Beer, so we decided to go ALL out for these crafty festivities.

Our American Craft Beer Week celebration began with a free crafty paired beer and appetizer tasting for Ladies Night. Our Oak & Stone ladies learned about pairing beers with different types of foods. Motorworks Brewing took over the taps with their Pulp Friction IPA & Yerba Mate Brown Ale. Check out our video for Ladies Night by clicking here!

The next day, Blind Beer Tastings were the stars of the show. For only $10, guests received a playing card with descriptions next to each beer placement. They had to guess the beers correctly to win some cool Oak & Stone swag! Naughty Monk Brewing was the tap takeover for the night with their Du Mi Belgian Dubbel and 4 Play Belgian Quadrupel. We even gave the option to score the beer on taste, aroma, and mouthfeel. Who knows, maybe some of these blind beer tasters will be the next Beer Wizard ;)

Day 3... the week is flying by. We celebrated this day by creating $5 brewtails from Calusa Brewing. We used the Dissonance Brown Ale and the Citronious IPA to craft something you've probably never tasted before! If you want to see the recipe, head on over to our other blog post

Our favorite day of the week was definitely Friday. Glitter Beer and Beards was the theme for the night. Our Beer Wizard, Tommy, had the opportunity to brew his own personal beer with Big Top Brewing Company. The King Tusk White Chocolate Mocha Imperial White Stout (Glitter Edition) was tapped promptly at 6:00 p.m. and sold out only 2 hours later! Here is the beers' profile.

The King Tusk White Chocolate Mocha Imperial White Stout (Glitter Edition) 8.1% ABV  21 IBU

This beer had a pale shimmering color with rich creamy flavors of white chocolate and coffee. Smooth undertones of vanilla and toasty oats were hidden within. The bold strength, the gentle kindness, and the shimmering ivory of the elephant that was once named... King Tusk, really took our breath away! FDA approved glitter swirled with each twist and turn of the beer.

Our beer journey was all documented for your viewing pleasure. Check out the ins and outs of the brew process all right here. Right when the glitter was added, Josh at Big Top sent us this awesome teaser video.

Some awesome guests enjoying the glitter beer!

During the weekend, Orange Octopus on Siesta Key donated their delicious vanilla bean ice cream for our Root Beer Float and Beer Float party! What do you think would be the best beer to pair with vanilla ice cream?

Luckily, we had the best pairing in the world. JDub's took over the tap room with their Tropi-Cow Milk Chocolate & Banana Porter (YUM) and the Crooked Coral Rye Amber. What an awesome combination! Tuff Son also played some vibey reggae tunes from 2-4 p.m.

To end a spectacular week, we decided to go big and offer Beermosas and Bloody Mary Brews for brunch on Sunday morning. Guests had the choice to pick any beer on the beer wall to mix with their favorite morning cocktails. We seemed to like the light, fruity beers paired with the Mimosas and the heavier beers paired with the Bloody Marys.
